Tributes
The greatest legacy one can pass on to one's children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one's life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.
Billy Graham
Augustine’s life had a profound influence on many people. Too many to count. Listed below are a few testimonials and tributes to remember his wonderful life.
Wife
We had 35 years of deep love, happy marriage, and true partnership with Father God as the Third strand that bound us together He gave me a life where I knew I was deeply understood despite my idiosyncrasies at times. I have always felt supported, encouraged and completely and utterly loved when you were around - and that will stay with me till we meet again in glory. Kobby me darling, you were blessed with the gift to connect with people, the ability to understand them, make them feel special. Honey, I know Daddy God had you in His arms the minute the enemy attacked your tent. physical My Hofele will be without you telling me to slow! Hmm what about the Rovost Rail family trip? I guess we will do it without you present in your tent beside us. As the lyrics for the
"Boy George" song that was played over and over at our wedding says, 'I will give everything I own, ...... just to hold you once again' Kobby, you made your Maker proud down here, pray for those of us left here on earth to do the same for the advancement of the Kingdom of God! - Resi Baido Apprey
Nieces and Nephews
It is said that ; "there are some people in life that make you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger and just live a little better." Uncle Kobby, as we fondly call him, was unquestionably one of those folks.
Uncle, you were the perfect gentlemen to everyone you came across. To us, you are the man that loved your family, your traditional african clothing & dishes (esp. Semolina) and more than anything else, your relationship with God.
Uncle, our hearts are still broken by your sudden absence and a piece of it will be forever gone. However, we are so grateful for being lucky enough to have had you in our lives and for all the wonderful memories we shared: the road trips, food explorations, African movie nights, discussions about cars, prayer group times and the constant ribbing about our driving.
When we think of all those times now, we do so with tears in our eyes but one day, we hope to do so with a smile. We are incredibly proud to be your nieces and nephews.
Though it hurts to lose you right now, we find comfort knowing that you have gone to join the triumphant saints in heaven. Uncle, we bid you farewell as you join your mother in the Lord’s arms.
Until then – We love you and will always miss you. Rest well Uncle Kobby. Da yie , Papa Semo.
Tribute: Sisters-in-law
We pay this tribute to our in-law, not as people who do not know God, but as those with hope of the resurrection. Kobby, you were all we could ask for in a brother-in-law. You were an incredible partner to our sister, Ewurasi, and a perfect fit into our family. You touched the lives of everyone in the family in diverse ways with your kindness, caring, loving, and peaceful nature. Your home was a place of rest and joy! Although you are no longer physically with us, you will forever remain in our hearts and your spirit will always be felt. Thank you for coming into our lives and enriching all of us. God broke our hearts on that faithful Tuesday, September 12th, 2023; to prove to us He only takes the best. Rest in Perfect Peace Kobby! - Jennifer B. Sampong
Uncle Kobby as we fondly called him was a true brother first, then a brother-in-law. A gift from God to our family. He married my sister and took her to Toronto, Canada; where he was residing then; before they moved to Lancaster, PA. I followed a year after my sister and during my stay with them in Toronto, I never ever saw Kobby angry but being humans, I am sure he was sometimes! Kobby was so responsible and in total control of all family matters and that made him an extraordinary gentleman, one of a kind, pure and true. God has need of him. We will see each other again. Rest in Peace, my dear. - Lucy B. Ansong
Tribute by Brothers-in-law
The righteous perishes, and no man takes it to heart; merciful men are taken away, while no one considers that the righteous is taken away from evil. He shall enter into peace; they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness. (Isaiah 57:1-2)
Augustine, affectionately called Kobby; was not a brother-in-law to us but a brother from another mother. Augustine lived the meaning of his name which is “Great and Magnificent.” His endearing cordial ability to put people at ease to freely open up to him left a deep impression on every single person who met with him. We felt extremely comfortable sharing our darkest moments with him. His good heart and kindness extended to us and to many souls will stand as a memorial before God.
Kobby’s unconditional love for our sister, Awurasi was so unique that it was graciously extended to the entire family. We found it so admirable that a couple married for over (25) years will relate so closely and be giving their best to each other. Their love was so genuine!
We give glory to God for the fulfilling years He gave him and the loving healthy relationship he shared with the entire family.
Augustine, rest in perfect peace till we meet on the Day of Resurrection!!!!!!!
